Terugkerende begrippen op de beursagenda

Werkloosheidscijfer
Het werkloosheidscijfer meet het percentage werklozen van de totale beroepsbevolking dat actief op zoek is naar werk. Dit cijfer kan een indicatie geven van de gezondheid van de arbeidsmarkt en de bredere economie. Een stijgend werkloosheidscijfer kan wijzen op zwakte in de arbeidsmarkt, terwijl een daling erop kan duiden dat er meer mensen aan het werk zijn. In de Verenigde Staten, de Eurozone en andere regio’s wordt dit cijfer doorgaans maandelijks gepubliceerd.
Purchasing Managers Index (PMI)
De Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) is een graadmeter voor de economische activiteit in de industrie- en dienstensector. Deze index weerspiegelt het vertrouwen van inkoopmanagers en geeft inzicht in trends zoals productie, nieuwe orders en werkgelegenheid. Een PMI-score boven de 50 duidt op expansie binnen een sector, terwijl een score onder de 50 kan wijzen op een afname van economische activiteit. Bekende aanbieders van PMI-data zijn onder andere het Institute for Supply Management (ISM) en de Markit Group.
Consumentenprijsindex (CPI)
De consumentenprijsindex (CPI) is een veelgebruikte maatstaf voor inflatie en meet veranderingen in de kosten van een mandje goederen en diensten die door huishoudens worden aangeschaft. Het CPI-cijfer wordt vaak gebruikt om de koopkracht van consumenten en de inflatiedruk binnen een economie te analyseren. Centrale banken en beleidsmakers houden deze index nauwlettend in de gaten bij het formuleren van economisch beleid.
Producentenprijsindex (PPI)
De producentenprijsindex (PPI) meet de gemiddelde prijswijzigingen van goederen en diensten vanuit het perspectief van producenten. In tegenstelling tot de CPI, die zich richt op de prijzen die consumenten betalen, geeft de PPI inzicht in de prijsontwikkelingen binnen de productieketen. Dit cijfer kan een indicatie geven van toekomstige inflatietrends, aangezien hogere producentenprijzen in sommige gevallen kunnen doorwerken naar consumentenprijzen.
Bruto binnenlands product (BBP)
Het bruto binnenlands product (BBP) weerspiegelt de totale waarde van alle goederen en diensten die binnen een land worden geproduceerd gedurende een bepaalde periode. Het BBP wordt vaak gebruikt als een maatstaf voor economische groei. Er zijn verschillende manieren om het BBP te berekenen, waaronder de optelling van consumentenbestedingen, investeringen, overheidsuitgaven en het saldo van export en import. Dit cijfer wordt doorgaans per kwartaal of jaar gerapporteerd en kan een belangrijke rol spelen in economische analyses.
